OFB XIV contains Bacon’s legal and political compositions during the period of his tenure as Attorney General, from 1613 to 1616. These include writings concerning the 1614 ‘Addled’ Parliament, the treason trials of the earl and countess of Somerset, and early letters of advice to his new patron, George Villiers, as well as important legal pieces such as the Arguments of law and the previously unpublished Aphorismi de jure gentium maiore.
